Junior Research Fellows (Job Code: NEBR-2018-04-18_12-06)

ATREE invites applications for two Junior Research Fellows for the project ‘Integrative Taxonomic Analysis for Assessment of Diversity and Phylogenetic Relationships among Selected Understudied Taxa of Northeast Region’. The project is funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi. The multi-partnership research project covers biosystematic & ecology studies of flowering and non-flowering plants, selected animal groups and documenting biological resources across the states of NE region that harbour two global hotspots of biodiversity.

Junior Research Fellow should work on Taxonomy and Phylogenetics of flowering plants, mapping their distribution patterns, writing reports and articles for peer-reviewed journals and reach-out to society through various media including Indian Bioresource Information Network (IBIN), DBT web portal. JRFs will be facilitated to register for PhD degree. We strongly encourage applicants from Northeast region of India. The candidates should be self-driven, highly motivated and willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in remote field sites in the entire Northeast region.

Research Position: Junior Research Fellow – two

Essential qualifications :

Post Graduate degree (MSc in Botany, Forestry, and allied subjects) with CSIR-NET qualification.

  • A strong aptitude towards biosystematics and Ecology and good analytical skills
  • Good oral communication and writing skills.
  • Highly motivated for carrying out field work in tough & remote conditions.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of any local languages of NE Indian region.
  • Commitment to high standards and have the ability to analyze data and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team

Emoluments for JRF Rs. 25,000/- + 30% HRA for 1st and 2nd year and Senior Research Fellow @ Rs, 28000/- + 30% HRA for the 3rd year, strictly as per DST guidelines*
