Positions: Research Associates and Accountant (Job Code: NEBR-2018-04-18_17-47)

ATREE invites applications for one Research Associate and one Accountant for a research coordination project ‘Monitoring, Management and Coordination of the project –Bioresources and Sustainable Livelihoods of Northeast India’. The project is funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi. The multi-partnership research project covers biosystematic & ecology studies of flowering and non-flowering plants, selected animal groups and documenting biological resources across the states of NE region that harbour two global hotspots of biodiversity.

1.Research Associate (one)
Essential qualifications: PhD in any branch of life science with good oral and written communication and Public relations skills.

Emoluments: Rs. 38,000/- + 30% HRA for all three years, strictly as per DST guidelines*

Responsibilities: Research Associate is expected to assist the Coordinator and Co-coordinator in managing the Components and Subprojects, facilitating the Progress review meetings, compile and write progress reports and prepare articles for peer-reviewed journals and reach-out to society through various media including Indian Bioresource Information Network (IBIN), DBT web portal. We strongly encourage applicants from Northeast region of India. The candidates should be self-driven, highly motivated and willing to undertake extensive interaction with the Project Staff, Govt. agencies, public etc.

2.Administrative Position: Accountant (one)

Emoluments: Rs. 35,000/- per month+ 30% HRA. Strictly as per DST guidelines*

Minimum qualifications
Graduate in Accounting with min. 5 years of experience along with Tally experience. This position may require visits to the field sites and local travel will be involved.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project accounts in Tally ERP 9
  • Verify expenses and process payments
  • Verify attendance and time sheets and process payroll
  • Deposit statutory dues on time
  • Review advances to staff, vendors and field sites and ensure prompt settlement
  • Visit field sites as and when required
  • Prepare periodical financial reports with budgets, forecasts and variances for project staff
  • Prepare periodical funds requests for donor
  • Prepare financial reports for donors
  • Compile information for audits including asset/inventory records
  • Ensure compliance with donor’s grant terms and conditions
  • Provide any administrative and logistic support as may be required from time to time
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor

Appointments will be on a fixed-term contract of 3 years. The Accountant will be a project staff of ATREE and not of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Duration of appointment: The position is for a period of three years (to be confirmed after the three month probation period).
