Positions: Research Associates and Junior Research Fellows- Non-marine Molluscs (Job Code: NEBR-2018-04-17_17-50)

ATREE invites applications for One Research Associate (RA), two Junior Research Fellows (JRF), for the project “Quantitative assessment and mapping of the diversity of non-marine molluscs (land snails and freshwater molluscs) of Northeast India” ∫ Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi. This is an exciting collaborative biodiversity research program lead by IBSD and ATREE, partnered with research and academic institutions from NE region and CSIR-NBRI, ILS, Bhubaneshwar, ARI, Pune. The multi-partnership research project covers biosystematics and ecological studies of flowering and non-flowering plants, selected animal groups and documenting biological resources across the states of NE region that harbour two global hotspots of biodiversity.

Project Research staff are expected to curate the data on non-marine molluscs collections, mapping their distribution patterns, write reports and prepare articles for peer reviewed journals and reach-out to society through various media including Indian Bioresource Information network (IBIN), DBT web portal. JRFs will be facilitated to enrol for Ph.D. degree. We strongly encourage applicants from Northeastern states of India. The candidates should be self-driven, highly motivated and willing to undertake extensive field work in remote field sites in the entire Northeast region.

1. Research Associate (One)

Essential qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Zoology, Life Science, Ecology, Environmental Science. Experience in Systematic Biology, Community Ecology with good oral and written communication skills is desirable.

Emoluments: Rs. 38000/- + 30% HRA for all three years, strictly as per DST guidelines*

2. Junior Research Fellow (Two)
Essential qualifications: Post Graduate degree (MSc in Ecology, Zoology, Forestry and allied subjects) with CSIR-NET qualification or Professional Degree with GATE or Masters.

  • A strong aptitude towards biosystematics and Ecology and good analytical skills.
  • Good oral communication and writing skills are desirable.
  • Highly motivated for carrying out field work in tough & remote conditions.

Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of any local languages of NE Indian region.
Communication and computer skills including databases and web portals
Commitment to high standards and have the ability to analyze data and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team

Emoluments for JRF: Rs. 25000/- + 10% HRA for 1st and 2nd year and Senior Research Fellow @ Rs, 28000/- + 10% HRA for 3rd year, Strictly as per DST guidelines*
